Beach Boys are an American group of the 1960s, the only one able to compete
against the Beatles. The Beach Boys music, inseparable from the genius of
their leader Brian Wilson, didn't cease being packed : the light of surfing
music of the beginnings left the place in 1965-1966 to a pop music of scale...
Beach Boys are formed in 1961 in Hawthorne, in the suburbs of Los Angeles
in California. The group joins together the three brothers Wilson - Brian,
Carl and Dennis - their cousin Mike Love and their neighbor Al Jardine.
Inspired by the surf that Dennis often practise, and taking benfits from
the vagueness of surfing music becoming a musical phenomenon, Brian Wilson
and Mike Love write the first title of the group : “Surfin’”.
The style is inspired by rock and roll and doo-wop and the music is very
simple. The brothers’ Wilson’s father, Murray, invests himself
in the group as a manager. Surfin’ leaves in 45 turns in December
1961.
Consequently, the Beach Boys’ albums will know a great success
in the contry : it is the single “I get around” which will
be the most well-knwown, reaching the first place in the United States,
and also reaching to enter the English Top Ten. It is however thanks to
“Pet Sounds” that the English musical press will indicate
the Beach Boys as the group of the year 1966.
At the end of the year 1966, Beach Boys leave Good
Vibrations, which is classified n°1 in the United States and in the
majority of the countries in the world. In France, it remains nearly two
months at the first place of the sales. The title, one of the anthems
of the incipient hippie movement, is n°1 world year...
