o The day of the schemes presentation for the architecture examination, the empress Eugénie, going against Charles Garnier, said him : “What is this style? It is not Greek, neither Louis XV, nor Louis XVI!” And Charles Garnier answered : “It is Napoleon III style” (emperor of France who wanted to renovate Paris). The emperor whispered to Charles Garnier : “Don’t worry, she doesn’t know anything”, the Napeleon III style was born!

o Garnier Opera was the 13th opera hall built in Paris ; the monumental chandelier of the great room fell down on the 13th seat and a “petit rat” fell mortally from a gallery to the 13th step of the great stair.

o Some words can’t be pronounced in an opera like “the noose” as on a boat. This tradition comes from the past because machinists were sailors!
