EDFU

Located at 110 kms at the south of Luxor, the little town of Edfu is well known for its temple which is dedicated to Horus. The construction of the temple sarted in 267 before J.C and lasted 180 years. It is the best keeped temple. Two giant hawk statues, with one in a perfect state, are standing in the courtyard. The inside rooms are also in a perfect state of conservation, like the sanctuary where you can find the sarcophagus on its plinth.

KOM-OMBO

It is located 170 kms at the south of Luxor.The ruins of Kom-Ombo temple are standing in the middle of the fields next to the Nil's banks.It was built between IVth and Ist century before J.C. It is dedicated to Horus the Big, and to Sobek, the crocodile god. Each god has its own sanctuary and its adoration rooms. In the well lived sacred crocodiles, the mummified remains are nowadays conserved in a little chapel.

ASWAN

Located at 200 kmsat the south of Luxor, on the first cataract of the Nil, Aswan is an industrial city and turistic place. You can visit Aswan's dam, Isis's temple which was on Philae island before, and which was transferred on Agilka island. You can visit also botanical gardens.

The big Aswan's dam which is an incredible modern monument which was finished in 1970; The dam, 3600 metres long, has created an artificial lake which streched over 500 kms. This lake was called Nasser Lake.

ABU SIMBEL

The two famous temples of Abu Simbel, which are located on Lake Nasser's banks, not far from Sudan border, have been built during Ramses II who was the King of Egypt.

The construction of Aswan's dam lead to a moving of the monuments between 1966 and 1972 to protect them from the water.

The Big temple was for Ramses and some important egyptian gods. The Little Temple (or Hathor's temple) was for the Queen Nefertari, and dedicated to the Hathor's god.
