Rock 'n' Roll is a transformation of
rhythm 'n' blues and black blues. In the mid fifties the first
stars were black performers like Chuck Berry but the king
of rock 'n' roll was a young southerner named Elvis Presley.
He was white but sang like a black man. He lokked like a rebel
but had a tender heart. On stage, he swayed his hips and his
fans sceamed and danced to the new rhythm. For millions of
young people all over the world rock 'n' roll symbolized youth.
