Where
does the violin come from ? It could be traced back to the 9th century,
with an Asian origin. 450 years later, the first basic string instrument
was becoming the violin, an instrument with a very studied form thanks
to the makers of stringed instruments' experience. |

 |
The
first stringed instrument was the musical bow, a simple string
tied to the two ends of an arched stick. But a good resonance was
missing. |
|
| |
Later,
a rounded sound-box was added to the instrument to imitate the resonance
of a tortoise shell. The lyre was a very popular instrument
used in feasting.
Another evolution
of the stringed instruments occured in all the world : they were
played by rubbing the strings, contrary to ancient stringed instruments
which were played by plucking the strings withe the fingers. |

In
the 11th century, we could find two major types of bow instruments
in Europe. : those with a pyriform resonance box, and the flat-bodied,
oval or elliptic instruments, which had a distinct neck.
After having taken
many forms like the vielle in the Middle Ages, the viola da
gamba in 1500, finally the violin evolved from the viola da
braccio. |

Through
the ages, the violin took korm : each part of it has its own origin,
and is the result of various questionings, always in order to give
this complex instrument a real heart. |
