Hedi
Slimane was born on the 5th of June, 1968, in Paris : he is French. He did
the first year of a class which prepares to the entry in the Institute of
Political Studies, then he entered the Louvre’school where he studied
Art History.
From 1992 to 1995, he assists Jean-Jacques Picart : he worked on the project
of the centenary exhibition of Louis Vuitton’s monogramme label.
In 1997, he worked as Collections Director for Yves Saint-Laurent, and became
Artistic Director. He did the collection Black Tie, and in 2001, left Yves
Saint-Laurent to become artistic director for a men collection for Christian
Dior.
In 2003 Hedi Slimane is put in charge of the perfumes and of the architecture
of the stores.
In 2004, he published a book named Stage with many photographs of rock groups
: Hedi Slimane is a Pete Doherty’s admirer, and Mick Jagger, the Franz
Ferdinand or even David Bowie love his collections.
In 2005, the Figaro Magazine wrote that he was one of the 50 most influential
thirty-year-olds.
Since 2002, Hedi Slimane writes one bibliography per year.
In June 2006, his contract at Dior’s house has expired ; Hedi Slimane
thought about making his own brand, or drawing a womenwear’s collection,
but in April 2007 LVMH decided not to renew his contract. |
